Don has practiced law since 1984, and he has a true generalist's perspective. As trial counsel in well over 100 trials (mostly jury trials), Don understands litigation. He has served as lead lawyer, liaison counsel, special master and an expert witness in class action and complex litigation matters. Don frequently is asked to lecture on ethics, professionalism, corporate law and litigation topics. He is presently serving a third six year commitment as a hearing committee chair person for the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board. Don serves as Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel of Delta SubSea, LLC. In addition, Don serves as an arbitrator of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
He continues his rich history of representing clients in a broad range of matters, including litigation, oil and gas transactions, and general advices as Of Counsel with Couhig Partners. Don also serves as inside general counsel for two diverse oilfield service companies and provides similar outside counsel services to several others. This work has included non-public mergers and acquisition, major capital acquisition and divesture projects, contract review and negotiation, oversight of litigation in multiple jurisdictions, and general advices. "I'm thrilled to be working with old friends and new ones at Couhig Partners, where we have a great mix of youth and experience. We focus on partnering with our clients, including flexible and creative alternative fee arrangements, mutually constructed to tie value to efficiency, performance, and results." -Don Massey |
